This is certainly a facet of the situation, but I don't know if I'd say the current Israeli actions are directly *driven* by their embarrassment in their conflict with Hezbollah. Certainly, that conflict knocked Israel down a peg, and this current conflict has the potential to help them regain their bad-ass reputation. (And it could help Barak's standing as well.) As in all power struggles, the outcome of past struggles definitely plays into it, but I think there's more going on here.
