thanks for the summary! it'd be great if you updated this post now that the ground offensive has started. i think that indicates a longer-term battle that israel is going to fight.
eric margolis has a different take, and i usually like to read his views to get something different than the standard western media. he has an article on al jazeera right now:

in particular, no one is writing about the blockade of gaza, which has been going on for a while. i think it's worth bringing up that point. in addition, he takes a totally opposite view on obama -- he sees these actions by israel as tying obama's hands, unless obama distances himself from bush. this is especially true given the recent US action in the security council to block an immediate call for a ceasefire.
